The Cypress Health Region is continuously looking for volunteers to help throughout the region.  Descriptions of just some of the volunteer programs offered include:

Meals-On-Wheel Driver – you would be responsible for delivering mid-day meals to clients’ homes. With the assistance of a helper drivers deliver from 1 – 16 meals to clients each day, except Sunday. This calls for good drivers with reliable vehicles and one hour to spare between 11:00 AM and 12:45 PM .

Volunteer Driver – Many Home Care clients must rely on friends or family for rides. At times they find themselves without a way to get to an appointment. The volunteer driver is asked to assist the client into and out of the car.Occasionally, a volunteer transports Home Care clients and stays with themthroughout appointments. Since requests for rides are frequently made on short notice, a long list of persons willing to provide this service is appreciated.

Flu Clinic – Volunteers to assist nursing staff in organizing clients attending fluclinics during the months of October and November.

Parent Mentoring Program of Saskatchewan - PMPS matches volunteermentors with pregnant mothers or parents of children less than 5 years of age.  These mentors provide support, friendship, encouragement and opportunities to connect with other programs and resources within the community.

You can be a volunteer mentor if you have experience with young children, have an understanding of parenting, have a warm and caring nature, are reliable and respect others privacy, are able to commit to regular contact, are open to receive training, are willing to help parents with needs that may include budgeting, education, recreation, health care, housing, employment and parenting concerns.

For more information please check out our website at www.PMPS.ca or contact the PMPS Program Coordinator at 778- 5259.

Wellness Program – The wellness program offers wellness counselling, lifestyle education, medication review, nutrition awareness, advanced nursing foot care, and referrals to other health care professionals. Volunteers greet and organize clients.

Youth Opportunities – Youth within the region are given the chance to volunteer within the region. This volunteer experience gives the youth experience and also can be used on their resumes.
